Plan A+ 2014: The Unfinished Revolution

This report by independent think tank ‘Reform’ and the education body SSAT looked at the ways in which academies - semi-independent state schools which receive their funding directly and have more freedom over areas including the curriculum and staff pay - are using their powers. It suggests that a number of academies are making traditional academic subjects such as science and languages compulsory for at least some pupils. Leadership Briefing Issue 8.09 (93)
