At London Design and Engineering UTC our sole ambition as educators is to prepare students for the world they’re going to work and live in. In our case, that means working closely with employers and bringing the very best industry standard technologies into the classroom.
It is important to ensure that people, who are perceived as ‘digital natives’, are actually digitally educated and prepared for the workplace. Employers want people to walk through their doors knowing exactly how to use key technologies, and how to support the industries our economy relies on.
It’s no longer enough to just have academic qualifications in your back pocket. Employers are interested in how our young people can innovate with technology. Some even ask in interviews if candidates can create content in augmented reality or design a building fit for the metaverse. Our students can say, ‘Yes, I do that all the time’ and can demonstrate completed projects too!
Technology and partnerships that lead the way
We want every single one of our students to be able to demonstrate innovation in tech with complete confidence, so we work with employers to develop our curriculum. Businesses set briefs directly to our students, making it essential that they use technology at every step in their project.
The result is that students create evidence for their qualification while working on real-world projects.
