Before embedding the same software across all Trust schools there was a general feeling of discontent with the range of existing systems, perhaps surprisingly it just didn’t allow for flexibility across the Trust. Fast forward to now, and all the schools in the Spiral Partnership Trust have purchased the same platform and since embedding the same software we’ve seen a positive impact among teachers and students in all schools.
Efficiency and reduced workload have been two of the key benefits we’ve seen across the Trust following the implementation. Staff who work across different schools can now operate with far greater speed and efficiency as they are familiar with the now universal system. We’re finding staff feel less pressurised as they are now able to plan well ahead and experiment in different methods of presentation through use of the system’s familiar and easily available resources.
All the Schools in the Trust now follow the same Computing Scheme of work, from 2Simple. This means that any member of staff who transfers to another Trust school or works on a range of sites will be used to working with the same scheme and its accompanying software. Following the same scheme of work has also allowed schools to collaborate and teachers to share best practice and knowledge easily with each other.
Having embedded Purple Mash and Serial Mash as a whole Trust, staff are now spending less time on routine tasks allowing greater time for student contact and out of classroom activities. There have been noticeable improvements in academic attainment and social awareness in almost every student. These factors have been accompanied by a much greater willingness for the individual to participate in the learning process across all subjects at each Key Stage.
The scheme has had a particularly postitive impact on Mount Pleasant Lane School, one of our St Albans schools, as it has become a 2Simple Pioneer School thanks to their outstanding progress and commitment to raising the profile of computing and IT throughout all aspects of the curriculum. Prior to this, the school did not fully grasp the range of possibilities that IT could offer in all subject areas.
