Learning Objectives

By the end of this lesson, students will:

  1. Develop counting, sorting, and data handling skills using everyday materials.
  2. Learn how to organize data into a table or chart.
  3. Answer questions about their data, reinforcing numerical and analytical skills.

Materials Needed

  1. Treasure Box: Objects made of various materials (e.g., wooden blocks, rubber bands, plastic cups, glass marbles, metal spoons).
  2. Sorting Hoops or Trays for materials classification.
  3. Tally sheets for recording data.
  4. Pre-drawn bar chart and pie chart templates.
  5. Colored pencils or markers.
  6. โ€œMaterials Detectiveโ€ stickers or certificates.
  7. A large classroom poster: โ€œHow Many Materials?โ€
  8. Optional: Interactive whiteboard or chart paper.
