Learning Objectives

By the end of this lesson, students will:

  1. Develop storytelling and writing skills by imagining the life of an everyday material.
  2. Improve vocabulary by using descriptive words for materials and their properties.
  3. Strengthen comprehension through reading and discussing material-related texts.

Materials Needed

  1. Materials Treasure Box: Objects made from various materials (e.g., wooden spoon, rubber band, glass jar).
  2. A storybook or short story about materials (e.g., “The Adventures of a Plastic Bottle” or “A Chair for My Mother”).
  3. Property Cards: Words like "shiny," "bendy," "strong," "smooth," with matching pictures.
  4. Worksheets:
    • "My Material Story" template (space to draw and write).
    • A word bank of material-related vocabulary.
  5. A large sheet of chart paper or whiteboard.
  6. Props for role-playing (e.g., hats, objects, or a puppet for storytelling).
