Primary Mental Health Workers In Education

Promoting good emotional health is an increasingly important function in schools. Consequently, better basic knowledge of mental health is needed across the children’s workforce. School staff require sufficient support, time and resources to develop their knowledge and expertise. This review evaluates the role of Primary Mental Health Workers (PMHWs) to date, focusing in particular on their role within education, and presents illustrations of PMHWs’ practices. It can inform the development and expansion of PMHW links with education. It will be of interest to policy makers and practitioners in education and mental health, including PMHWs, CAMHS specialists and education staff. Leadership Briefing 5.04 (52)
