Advances in technology have enabled students to have much greater flexibility in how, where and when they learn. When creating an environment where students can flourish both academically and personally it is important to ensure that you plan the space from their perspective. Universities around the world are beginning to re-imagine the way they approach learning spaces in order to improve student retention, engagement and academic results.
Ahead of their participation in Next Generation Learning Spaces 2018, we spoke to two specialists who have embarked on ambitious next generation learning projects; The North Torrey Pines Live and Learn Community at UC San Diego and The Oxford Foundry at the University of Oxford.
This article will discuss the motivations behind each project, the challenges faced in bringing the project to life and how the space will directly benefit the students who use it.
