Is the Schools Direct programme all it’s cracked up to be?

More than 900 places have been allocated on the new school-led ‘School Direct’ programme since September, and it is expected that as many as 10,000 students a year could be trained by schools that are either offering Schools Direct places or are full providers of teacher training. But is the new programme all it’s cracked up to be?
