Best Practice In The Science Curriculum: Science Mark 3

In the third in this series of articles, the three assessors of the National STEM Centre Science Mark look at Curriculum.

Science Mark is a quality standard designed to recognise and celebrate inspiring practice in secondary and FE science departments ”. There are three levels of the award; silver, gold and platinum. The Science Mark criteria are divided into three sections: 1 Teaching and Learning; 2 Leadership and Management; and 3 Curriculum. This article discusses 3, i.e. curriculum.

In this article we examine the strategies which schools put in place, and introduce some examples of good practice. The aim is to give a range of ideas being used by successful organisations to school and department leaders. It doesn’t matter where a school is - there is always room for improvement. This article provides teachers and leaders with creative strategies employed by amazing schools.
