Improving School Governance And Leadership

This CBI report argues that much more is needed to strengthen leadership and governance to deliver a world-class schools system, including an expansion of the right to time off for governors’ duties to be extended to academies and free schools. It warns that if schools are to make the most of their new freedoms, school governing bodies need to improve. The Advisory Committee on Mathematics Education (ACME) has called on the Department of Education (DfE) to compile and promote national guidelines for the provision of career-long professional development for mathematics teachers in the UK. The report sets out the priorities for professional development of teachers for mathematics against the changing professional development landscape and makes recommendations for improving professional development for teachers of mathematics, in order to meet the mathematical needs of learners.
