As the Scottish government reviews the governance structures and processes of Scottish schools, this report considers what reforms to school governance could have a positive effect on attainment, including what evidence there is for a gap between denominational and non-denominational schools. Maths, science and language teachers in England have high rates of leaving the profession, particularly in their first five years, according to this study by NFER. The research aims to gain a deeper understanding of the dynamics within the teacher workforce in England. Randomised Controlled Trial of Code Clubs and Process Evaluation

This National Foundation for Education Research (NFER) study shows the results of a randomised controlled trial and process evaluation of Code Clubs. The results of the evaluation showed that attending Code Club for a year did not impact on pupils’ computational thinking any more than might have occurred anyway, but did significantly improve their coding skills in Scratch, HTML/CSS and Python.
